What Does Valentine’s Day Mean to You?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

According to the legend, the day is celebrated to mark the death anniversary of Saint Valentine who died in mid-February in 270 AD. It is said that Saint Valentine was a priest, who defied emperors’ orders and secretly married couples to spare husbands from war. There are many more assumptions and we may never truly know the actual facts.
For those of you who celebrate this day you may wish to notice how you treat your significant other differently by showing more love and attention, doing extra chores, making them breakfast, sending flowers, and going out to enjoy a special dinner together.
Then the next day arrives, and it is back to the same old routine.
  • Why do you act different to your loved on Valentine’s Day?
  • Why don’t you show this extra affection and attention every day?

You see, Valentine’s Day is a perception that was created years ago to remind you to share your love. But why don’t we all share this extra attention every day, not just on Valentine’s Day? I understand that Valentine’s Day is a great reminder to let your partner know how much you love them, but let’s take it to a higher level and show this love always.

You don’t need to send flowers, give expensive gifts, and romantic dinners every day, but LOVE is FREE! You can give love every day, you can pay more attention to their needs, and help where needed. I guarantee you your significant other will enjoy that more than any material gift.
For those of you who are without a partner. Use Valentine’s Day as a reminder to love yourself! Sure, maybe you wish to treat yourself to your favorite meal or a special gift, but more importantly are you using this day as an excuse to eat more chocolate or are you realizing you can treat yourself to goodies whenever you wish because you are worthy of self-love.If you are alone due to the loss of a loved one, it can be quite difficult on Valentine’s Day. Use this time to honor the relationship you did have. Know that the love they had for you never diminishes and is still all around you. You may even find a special memory surfacing to remind you of their continuous love.
For those of you who are alone due to a break-up, use this time to re-evaluate what went wrong in the relationship, be willing to take ownership where you could have made some changes, and forgive yourself and the other person so you can begin the process of releasing what no longer is serving you. Sometimes endings and closures are needed so new beginnings can surface.  Remember to treat every day as if it’s Valentine’s Day, why, well because it is all about LOVE. Begin to share your love with others every day!  Like attracts like and love attracts love………you are a mirror……what you reflect to others will reflect back to you!

Happy Valentine’s DaySending love & hugs to all of you today and every day!
